Iriomote island,Yubu Island

Iriomote Island is the 2nd big island only smaller than Okinawa Island. 90% of the island is covered by tropical and subtropical primeval forest. There are Iriomotensis, a kind of Japanese conservation animal, live in the wide forest. Countless rivers formed with abundant fountain run in the forest,. Large mangrove forest and lively waterfalls related to those rivers create a magnificent scenery. Such a rare nature in Japan is the best place to experience and enjoy Canoeing, Forest Bath and Eco-tourism.

In addition, the neighboring Yubu Island was piled up by sands brought by ocean currents. It’s a small island as 15 meters in altitude, 2.15 km in girth. The sea between Yubu Island and Iriomote Island is normally not higher than adult knees, thus the water buffalo carts are used as the conveyance for the sightseeing between those two islands. The carts are also a very important tourism resource in the island.
